If you hate junk calls as much as I do, have a few minutes to kill and would love to use those effing people for your own amusement… make up a bogus credit card number, write it down (so you know what you told them) then first only give them 15 digits of it. They tell you not enough numbers, give them all 16, but transpose two of them. Repeat this a few times, eventually giving them the same 16 digit answer twice (make them wait while you “look for your glasses” for bonus points.)

They tell you the card is invalid, say oh my this is the one I thought I’d lost when I [insert arcane fake details]… start the process over, working in as much trivial BS as possible. When you’ve exhausted the entertainment value of this exercise, and/or their patience, say, you know what would be so helpful? If you took me off your stupid damn list and never fucking called me again, think you could do that, pretty-fucking-please?

The dude I just did it to got all irate, with clenched teeth, “why would you waste my time like that?” He was downright indignant! I said right back at you, you interrupt my day and waste my time, if you stop calling me, I won’t be able to do that to you , will I? Then we exchanged a few swear words, homophobic epithets and some suggestions of aberrant sex acts that are anatomically impossible and the call was over.

I found it funny AF, he was much more irritated than anticipated. Now I can’t wait for the next health insurance cold call, I’m going to make them explain every plan, “decide to buy” the most expensive plan for my large pretend family, and then “try to pay for it” with multiple fake payment instruments — I’m going to make it painful for them! They desperately need incentive to respect peoples wishes.. I’ve got some for them.
